Preserving your research data helps you comply with current and future funding agency policies as well as with other legal, ethical, and legislative requirements.

Benefits of data preservation include:

  • Encouraging replication and reuse 
  • Improving the visibility of research

Domain-Specific Repositories 

There are many domain-specific repositories that collect and preserve research data. Some funding agencies, such as CIHR, have specific requirements for researchers to submit the data associated with their publications to named repositories. 

International repository options include: 

  • Deposit in discipline-specific repository 
  • Post online via an institutional website 
  • Submit data and results to an online journal 
  • Deposit in a journal-specific repository
