Thomas G. Feeney Q.C. Award for Aging and Community
Each year, the Centre funds two awards of $2,500 for students enrolled on a full-time basis in graduate studies (MA or PhD) at 最新杏吧原创 who are conducting original research that explores issues related to aging and community. For information on how to apply, click here.
This award is based on the relevance and strength of the research project on a topic of aging and community. Applicants must demonstrate their ability to conduct research that relies on practical knowledge and supports community engagement; their ability to communicate (both oral and written). The recipients are expected to present their research to the general public through an activity sponsored by the Centre. Students can receive funding up to two times during the term of their research.
The applicants’ proposals are evaluated across 4 categories:
- Aims of the project: Clarity of the proposed goals and alignment of the project with the Centre’s mission
- Quality of the project: Quality and significance of the research (include at least 2 citations) and appropriateness of the approach used in the project
- Feasibility: Appropriateness of timeline and probability that the objectives will be met
- Knowledge translation/mobilization: Expected contributions to research and potential for the project to have influence and impact in the community. Ideally, the applicant will identify a community partner that supports the research or has an awareness of it.
